FAQ
Will DiamondHacks be online or in-person?
DiamondHacks '21 will be completely virtual. See the logistics section of the website to read more about the schedule and hosting platforms.

Who can participate?
DiamondHacks is open to any university or high school student, regardless of gender, age, or experience.
Will there be prizes?
Yes! Multiple prizes will be awarded, and there will even be a special category for beginners. Check out the Prizes section below to see what your team could win!
What if I don't have an idea?
There will be time at the beginning of the event for brainstorming. We'll have mentors around to help think of ideas as well. We encourage you to create a project based on one of our three Categories: Equity, Efficiency, and the Environment. Check out DevPost for ideas!
What is a hackathon?
A hackathon is a weekend of code where students can come together in a supportive, fast-paced environment to create innovative and meaningful projects.

In this weekend-long event, you will have access to workshops, mentors, and industry professionals to support you and your team throughout the event!

How much prior coding experience is expected of participants?
None, we welcome beginners! This is a great opportunity to learn about coding and start practicing. There will be intro workshops and mentors available to help those with little experience.
Will I receive swag?
All participants who submit a project to Devpost at the conclusion of the event will receive a box of swag from DiamondHacks!
How many people are allowed per team?
There is no maximum or minimum team size. However, we have a maximum of 4 prizes to award to each winning team. If your team is fewer than 4 people, you will only receive the number of prizes equal to the people on your team. If your team is greater than 4 people, you will receive only 4 prizes to share amongst your team.
What if I don't have a team?
No worries! We'll have time for networking and team forming leading up to the event in the Discord. You can find people with similar interests to work with and build something awesome.
How much does it cost?
DiamondHacks is completely free for all participants. Thanks to our generous sponsors, we will even provide GrubHub gift cards, swag, and prizes to participants.
